VALDOSTA — The price of gasoline is on its way back down in Lowndes County.

The lowest price for a gallon of regular gasoline reported in Valdosta Sunday was $1.78 at a store on U.S. 84, five cents cheaper than the lowest price from a week ago, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com.

Gasbuddy reported 60 retailers in the county selling gas less than $2 a gallon Sunday, compared to 58 the previous Sunday.

The average price of auto fuel in Valdosta Sunday was $1.94 a gallon, compared to $1.97 the previous week, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report. Statewide, average prices fell three cents in the same period, from $2.03 a gallon to $2, AAA said.
