VALDOSTA – Valdosta City Schools warned business supporters of the Valdosta High School baseball program of a possible scam Wednesday afternoon that turned out to be a misunderstanding.
VCS warned supporters that an unauthorized individual was calling local businesses on behalf of the VHS Dugout Club in attempt to sell ads for a calendar or program.
The calls came from a sports marketing firm which had previously offered the service to the VHS Dugout Club. The offer was declined, but there was a misunderstanding that resulted in the firm making calls on behalf of the club this week.
A club representative has since sorted out the issue with the marketing company, and calls have stopped. No money changed hands because of the calls, according to a school spokesperson.
