LAKE PARK – A woman is in jail after she allowed Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies to search her home for a wanted individual, and the deputies found a marijuana growing operation in her closets.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, LCSO deputies arrived at a residence in the 5200 block of David Drive in Lake Park to serve an arrest warrant for an individual.

Kortni Ruth Lawlor, 32, the home’s resident, reportedly told the deputies the person was not at the house but agreed to allow the deputies in the home to conduct a search, said LCSO Capt. Stryde Jones.

“During this search, the deputies looked in the closets and found they have been converted to marijuana grow rooms,” Jones said. “A total of 34 marijuana plants were found inside the two closets. The grow operation was dismantled and the plants seized.”

Lawlor was arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

“Even though an arrest has been made, this investigation is not closed and there may be additional charges and arrests,” said LCSO Sheriff Chris Prine. “This was a great job by the deputies to conduct their investigation that led to this discovery.”
