VALDOSTA – The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issues a Flood Warning for the Withlacoochee River above Valdosta at Skipper Bridge Road, affecting Brooks and Lowndes Counties.
The Flood Warning is in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday morning.
NWS forecasts minor flooding for the river. At 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, the stage was 134.8 feet. Flood stage is 135.0 feet. The river is expected to rise near 135.1 feet by Wednesday afternoon.
“All persons with interest along the river should monitor the latest forecasts, and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect life and property. Do not drive cars through flooded areas. If you see flood waters: Turn around. Don`t drown,” stated a NWS release.
