The small town of Americus, Georgia has made big headlines with the arrests of six people by U.S. Marshall’s including one well known businessman. According to the report, Robert Kline who owns Americus Auto Care and two of his employees identified as James Brown and Bruce Toms have been charged with purchasing firearms that had been stolen. Also charged are Albert Nutt, Roger Jackson IV and Taris Hollomon who was already serving time in prison.

Another confirmation regarding the storms that struck the region states that an EF-1 tornado with winds gusting up to 105 miles per hour roared through Lee County. There are no reports of injuries but some property damage has been recorded.

A 23 year old unnamed Albany resident was seriously injured when her vehicle struck a tree and caught fire. Emergency personnel report that the victim became trapped inside the car and had to be pulled from the flames. She was transported to a hospital; there is no word on her condition.

So far the answer to persons seeking permission to protest at the appearance of GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump is a resounding NO. Trump will appear on the Valdosta State University Campus at 6 pm on the 29th. Organizers and campaign workers have rented the space for his appearance and it is not a university sponsored event. Officials point to The Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011 — states, that carries penalties for any person that knowingly enters or remains in any restricted building or on grounds without lawful authority where the President or other person will be protected by the Secret Service.

Over 50 prospective employers have signed on to participate in the Veterans Spring Career Expo that takes place on March 10th. The expo is hosted by the Georgia Department of Labor from 1 until 4 pm ant the career center 221 S. Ashley Street. The event is for veterans but it is also open to the public and all persons interested in seeking employment should bring copies of a current resume and dress appropriately. Tifton resident Gain Taylor Drayton wants to be the next clerk for the Superior Court of Tift County. Drayton says that her extensive background in law enforcement and prior experience as a clerk qualify her for the post. She began serving as the clerk in the Tifton Municipal Court last July.
