VALDOSTA – Georgia State Patrol Post 31 released statistics this week showing troopers worked more than 100 crashes in January without any fatalities.

According to Sergeant First Class Jeromy Roberts, Post 31 Valdosta Troopers investigated 115 traffic crashes, resulting in 57 injuries and no fatalities during the month of January 2016.

SFC Roberts also said during the month of January, Post 31 Troopers had the following activity: 692 citations, 32 D.U.I. arrests, 57 Seatbelt Violation citations, 17 Child Restraint Violation citations, 22 Distracted Driving citations and 354 Speeding citations.

Post 31 Troopers also apprehended one wanted person and made 13 drug arrests including one felony drug arrest.

Post 31 Troopers issued 872 warnings during January and accumulated 74 hours conducting Road-Checks during the month.

SFC Roberts reminds drivers of Georgia’s Move Over Law. When approaching a law enforcement vehicle, firetruck, ambulance or wrecker with emergency lights activated on the shoulder of the roadway use extreme caution. Move over one lane when possible, if roadway conditions will not allow you to move over then slow down below the posted speed limit until you pass the emergency vehicle and be prepared to stop if needed.
