VALDOSTA – The National Weather Service in Tallahassee expects Valdosta and its surrounding communities to receive three quarters to an inch of rain Friday.

NWS forecasts call for most of the rain to fall before 2 p.m., with heavy downpours and lightning at times. Wind gusts could reach 20 mph, according to NWS.

The stormy conditions are thanks to a low pressure system off the Northern Gulf Coast.
