There are plans in the office of Governor Nathan Deal to move the operations of the Georgia nation Guard to the site of the Marine Corps Logistics base in Albany. According to the latest report the governor’s budget calls for over one million dollars to facilitate the move. However, the budget must be approved by the Georgia House and Senate.
This report in from Trooper Chris Kelch of Post 31 in Valdosta…A Lowndes County Sheriff’s deputy observed the driver of a semi-tractor trailer driving erratically southbound on Interstate 75. All attempts to get the truck driver to come to a halt failed as the vehicle crossed into Florida. Officials there had been notified and the driver-66 year old Eddie Dean Woods ended his run after crashing into a guardrail and landing in a ditch. He suffered no injuries and EMS personnel reported no medical complications. Among the multiple charges filed against him-DUI. Woods was taken to the Hamilton County Jail.
Members of the Valdosta Police Narcotics Unit recently investigated complaints of illegal narcotics activity in the area of Gainer Street.  During their investigation, they recovered $510.00 worth of crack cocaine and arrested Willie Hill and Herbert Nesmith in the 200 block of Chandler Street.  Hill was arrested for sale of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and tampering with evidence.  Nesmith was arrested for party to the crime of the sale of cocaine.  Both men were transported to the Lowndes County Jail.
 The Valdosta Police Narcotics Unit also investigated complaints of illegal narcotics activity in the area of Langdale Drive.  During their investigation, they recovered approximately $100.00 worth of Alpha PVP (Flakka) and arrested James Jenrette in the 1100 block of Langdale Drive.  Jenrette was arrested for sale of Alpha PVP.  Jenrette was transported to the Lowndes County Jail.
