VALDOSTA –  Police have charged a man with vehicular homicide in the death of a Valdosta man Wednesday.

Thi P. Le, 29, has been charged with failure to obey signs or control devices, failure to yield to a vehicle and misdemeanor second degree homicide. Le is charged in connection with the death of David Lee Butler, 61, who was struck and killed on North St. Augustine Road, said Valdosta Police Department Capt. Kari Williams.

An investigation reportedly revealed Butler was traveling east along the 1100 block of North St. Augustine road on a yellow scooter when he was struck by a Toyota Tundra driven by Le. Le was traveling across North St. Augustine Road from the Valdosta Mall exit to the Lowes’ entrance, Williams said.

“The truck pulled into the path of the moped and the two collided,” Williams said.

Le was arrested Thursday and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
