VALDOSTA — Dr. Cecil P. Staton, interim president, recently hosted a reception honoring members of the Rea and Lillian Steele Society and the role they play in protecting and nurturing Valdosta State University’s tradition of academic, creative, and athletic excellence on campus, in the community, and around the world.
The Steele Society recognizes those donors who contribute between $5,000 and $24,999 annually to the university. The Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration received an $8 million bequest from the estate of Lillian Steele in 2002. That same year VSU named the Rea and Lillian Steele North Campus. This part of the university is home to the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration, the Health Sciences and Business Administration Building, Air Force ROTC Detachment 172, Billy Grant Field, and more.
