ADEL — Authorities are investigating a homicide in Adel.

Reports from WALB state the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is working with Adel Police regarding a reported shooting in the 800 block of Turkey Drive.  The incident occurred Friday.

Officers found Dempsey Williams, 52, suffering from gunshot wounds.  He was taken to the Cook County Medical Center for treatment, but later pronounced dead.

An investigation led to the arrest of Calvin Smith, 47, who is being charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

This is an active investigation and the GBI and Adel Police are requested contact with anyone who may have information.
