VALDOSTA — Back in February, a crash on Old Clyattville Road in Lowndes County resulted in the death of Kyle Ryan Naville, 23 of Valdosta, and Logan Paige Shelley, 22 of Pinetta. The investigation of that accident has resulted in several felony charges being brought against Jeremy Mack Carter, according to information released Friday by the Georgia State Patrol.
Carter, then 34 of Valdosta, was driving his pickup truck south on Old Clyattville Road when he attempted to pass a school bus. However, in doing so he struck, head on, Naville’s car, killing both him and his passenger, Shelley. Carter was injured and taken to South Georgia Medical Center.
Toxicology reports submitted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation showed Carter had an extremely high .187 blood alcohol level, over twice the legal limit. The State Patrol also investigated the accident using their Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) and presented the findings to the Lowndes County District Attorney.
Upon review of those findings, the District Attorney’s Office issued warrants for Carter’s arrest. He was located by Lowndes County Sheriff’s Deputies in Hamilton County and arrested last Friday. He has been charged with 2 felony counts of First Degree Vehicular Homicide, Reckless Driving, DUI, Driving on a Suspended License (for a second time), Improper Passing and Open Container.
Carter is being held at the Lowndes County Jail.
