Chris Beckham, Valdosta Today
VALDOSTA — In our series on candidates in the upcoming Valdosta city elections, we speak with James Wright.
Wright is a life-long resident of Valdosta and graduated from Valdosta High School in 1977 and Valdosta Technical Institute in 1990 with a diploma in Industrial and Residential Electricity, and again in September of 1995 with a diploma in Advanced Electronics.
Wright joined the Georgia Army National Guard in 1977, and retired in 1997. He is also very active in his community. He is the President and Co-founder of the Valdosta Blockclub Federation. He is an active member of the Lowndes County chapter of the NAACP. Councilman Wright is presently working in the area of property revitalization and community preservation.
He is married to the former Fannie Ray of Donaldsonville and has two children.
