VALDOSTA — Valdosta Police announced the arrest of a suspect related to an intent to distribute almost 10 pounds of marijuana.

Police received a tip there was to be a large shipment of marijuana coming into Valdosta.  Their investigation led them to intercept the shipment and make an arrest of the intended recipient.

Venderick Dawson, 29, was arrested and is being held at the Lowndes County Jail.  He is scheduled to be charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and first degree forgery.

The value of the marijuana is estimated to be $88,000 by police.
