DOERUN — A high speed chase caused a deadly crash near Doerun.

WALB quotes Georgia State Patrol officials regarding a driver who was high on marijuana running from Colquitt County deputies Monday afternoon.

Darius Williams, 23, was speeding away from deputies on Highway 133.  Reports state Williams was driving on road shoulders and between cars in the middle of the highway as he attempted to escape the deputy in pursuit.

He eventually lost control, traveled down an embankment, spun back onto the road, went airborne, and sheered off the top of an oncoming vehicle.

He struck the Mercury Mountaineer being driven by Danny Morgan, 61, who was killed along with an unnamed passenger.

Williams was taken to a local hospital.  There is no current report on his condition.

He is being charged with 2 counts of first degree vehicular homicide, DUI, and several other violations.
