VALDOSTA — Valdosta Police are investigating a robbery of a Valdosta State student over the weekend.

Police report that on Saturday night, officers responded to near the VSU campus to meet with a student who said she had been robbed while walking alone in the 1200 block of Williams Street.

The victim, Camry Jones, stated as she walked down the road, she was approached by two African-American males on bicycles. She said initially the two males passed by and then turned around and started talking to her. She said the males rode away again and then one of them came back up to her and asked to use her cell phone.

She said she gave him the phone to use but the victim would not give him the password to unlock the phone. She said the male suspect then pulled out a handgun from his pocket.

She stated he never pointed the gun at her but she was frightened by the weapon. He demanded she unlock her phone with her password. She said he could not get the phone to unlock so he took the phone and her bookbag.

After the incident, the victim said she got back to campus and called police. She stated the males appeared to be in their early 20’s. She indicated they rode away from the scene on the bicycles. No one was injured in the incident.
