LIVE OAK — A Live Oak man, walking in the northbound lane of Interstate 75, was struck and killed by a truck driven by a Quitman man.

The report from WCTV states the victim was Anthony Vincent Africano, 51 of Live Oak.  Florida Highway Patrol stated in the report that the victim was on foot in the northbound lane of the Interstate close to 11 PM Wednesday night.

The tractor-trailer truck was being driven by a 54-year old Quitman man.  He was uninjured.  Africano was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is illegal to walk on an Interstate highway unless there is an emergency.  Florida Highway Patrol stated several vehicles had reported seeing a pedestrian on the highway before the accident occurred.
