BROOKS COUNTY — The Georgia State Patrol is reporting a deadly accident which took one life.
Tuesday afternoon, Georgia State Trooper TFC Jeremy Swain was dispatched to a three vehicle collision that occurred on GA 333 at GA 122 in Brooks County.
A white Toyota Scion driven by Carrie Louise Mccullough, 37 of Moultrie, was traveling west on GA 122 approaching the intersection of GA 333. A blue International tractor trailer hauling logs driven by Brandon Smart, 23 of Valdosta, was traveling south on GA 333.
Mccullough failed to yield to the tractor trailer when crossing the intersection, according to the GSP, which is controlled by stop signs on GA 122. The tractor trailer struck the Scion in the passenger side.
After impact, the Scion overturned and traveled off the east shoulder of GA 333. The Scion then came to rest facing east on the east shoulder of GA 333. The tractor trailer traveled off the west shoulder of GA 333. The trailer became separated from the tractor and struck a parked Toyota Sequoia in a yard on the west side of GA 333. The trailer overturned, losing the logs off the west shoulder of GA 333.
Mccullough was pronounced dead at the scene. Smart was transported to Brooks County Hospital for a minor injury to his leg.
GA 333 just south of GA 122 was closed from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Reports state both occupants were restrained and airbags did deploy on the Scion. There is currently no suspicion of alcohol or drugs being a contributing factor in this collision. No charges will be filed in this collision.
