VALDOSTA — An arrest has been made in the burglary of the Phone Shack on Ashley Street.

Valdosta Police report that on Monday, officers responded to the Phone Shack, located at 707 N. Ashley Street, in reference to a burglary. Officers found that force was used to gain access to the building and that several items were missing. This case was turned over to the Valdosta Burglary Unit for investigation.

Then, again on Thursday, officers responded to the Phone Shack in reference to another burglary.

This time, an officer noticed an offender still inside the business was attempting to exit.  He commanded the offender to stop. The suspect dropped the stolen property he was holding and fled on foot.

The officer pursued the suspect and was able catch him and take him into custody a few blocks away.

The suspect was identified as a juvenile. During the investigation into this case, the Valdosta Burglary Unit was later able to recover items that were stolen during the Monday burglary, too.

The juvenile has been charged with two counts of Burglary, for both of the incidents.

“Chief Childress is extremely proud of the efforts of the Patrol Officers and Burglary Detectives in these cases,” Lt. Kari Williams noted in a VPD statement.
