Nunn Raising Funds; Valdosta Shooting; Thomasville Arrest

Democrat US Senate candidate Michelle Nunn will get some fund raising help in her campaign from actor-singer Usher Raymond and former President Bill Clinton. The event will take place at Raymond’s Atlanta residence. Also the Nunn campaign has accepted five debate invitations offered by media and non-partisan organizations across Georgia. Shooting Investigated in Valdosta

The investigation into a drive-by shooting incident continues in Valdosta. Police say that the search is on to find the person or persons responsible for firing multiple shots at the home of 23 year old Shakendra Battles in the 1800 block of N. Lee Street. Battles and a male companion told police they had no idea why they were targeted. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Thomasville Arrest

A Thomasville man is behind bars and charged with aggravated assault. Kirk Willis age 45 was arrested after a verbal domestic dispute became physical and Willis attempted to take the life of his girlfriend. His female victim suffered cuts and bruises. Her attacker was found by Thomasville authorities hiding in a nearby wooded area. Willis is well known by law enforcement agencies in that area as jail records show that he has been arrested on six previous occasions.

Search Continues for Shooting Suspect in Valdosta

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation continue their search for two male suspects in a case involving their attempt to run down a Georgia State Trooper who fired shots at his attackers. The vehicle in which they travelled had been stolen. The incident took place during an attempted traffic stop for speeding. The suspects abandoned the stolen Nissan Sentra after a brief chase and escaped on foot. The trooper was not injured.
