BROOKS COUNTY, GA – For the past few months three local gentlemen, who are members of the 100 Black Men Organization, have been meeting with and mentoring 5 students at Brooks County Middle School enrolled in the ECHOES After-school program.

The students were recognized last night at a reception held in Thomasville and received certificates of participation. The students were transported to Thomasville by Kendall Blankumsee and Dr. Al Williams in the BTW Funeral Services limo. Both gentlemen along with James Maxwell have been mentoring the students.

The students were very excited not only to ride in the limo but to attend the reception in their honor. One student was quoted as saying to Dr. Williams on the ride to Thomasville, “this is the best day of my life.”

Students participating in the mentoring program are; Freddy Andres, Neil Brinson, Eric Noltion, Cameron Wright, and Obed Mendez. Mr. Maxwell and Obed were unable to attend the reception.

Armirica Hill, a Brooks Co. High senior who attended ECHOES as an elementary and middle school student and now works at the middle school for ECHOES as a high school aide, shared her story of how ECHOES and a mentoring program has helped her plan for her future.
