VHS-IB-Field-TripVALDOSTA, GA – On March 28-30, twenty-one members of the Valdosta High School International Baccalaureate (IB) Class of 2014 took a field trip to St. Joseph’s Peninsula State Park near Port St. Joe on the Gulf of Mexico approximately 30 miles west of Panama City, Florida.

Students and six teacher chaperones camped near the dunes, enjoying a unique, pristine natural environment far from the commercialized condo and retail atmosphere that has become common to some beach areas.  Featured activities were hiking, fishing, enjoying a low-country boil, and playing beach games like volleyball and Frisbee while viewing breathtaking sunsets.

Because the IB program is unique in its scope and rigor, this second annual trip is intended as an incentive for students to appreciate nature’s unspoiled beauty.  They are also celebrating the approaching end of their intensive two-year program of study at VHS as well as their acceptances to The University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Duke, Emory, Vanderbilt, and Valdosta State.
