Moody-Air-Force-Base-EntranceMOODY AIR FORCE BASE, GA – Leaders from Moody AFB and local government and private sector entities gathered to sign a charter establishing the Moody Community Partnership Committee on Thursday.

The city of Valdosta, Lowndes County, the Valdosta/Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, Valdosta State University, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College and South Georgia Medical Center, along with Moody, are members of the committee and participated in the signing.

The Moody Community Partnership Committee was formed under the Air Force Community Partnership Initiative. This initiative provides a framework through which installation and public/private sector community leaders can develop creative ways to leverage their capabilities and resources to reduce costs or reduce risks by finding shared value. Members from each of the partnering organizations have worked together since April 2013 after Moody was selected as one of 16 prototype bases for the Air Force program.

A training agreement between the VSU Athletic Training Department and the 23d Medical Group was formalized on March 6 through the Community Partnership Initiative. The committee continues to work together to identify additional future partnership opportunities.
