Georgia Lottery Corp. Awards 1-year Tuition Scholarship, Segway to Valdosta State University Students

VSU-GA-Lottery-winnersATLANTA, GA – The Georgia Lottery Corp. has awarded a Valdosta State University student a one-year tuition scholarship as a winner from a new sports-based promotion. Meaghan Hoffman has won a one full-year scholarship, and Tania Tauiliili has won a Segway i2 personal transportation device from being selected as Georgia Lottery’s Dollars for Scholars promotion winners.

The prizes were awarded April 5 at Steel’s Diamond Blazer Park in Valdosta with Valdosta State University’s softball team playing the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Tauiliili selected the cash equivalent of the Segway i2 personal transportation device valued at $9,130.44.

By attending athletic games at participating colleges statewide, students had a chance to win one of eight $1,000 scholarships, a one full-year scholarship and a Segway i2 personal transportation device.

Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Southern University, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, Mercer University, Savannah State University, Valdosta State University and the University of West Georgia are the participating universities of the Dollars for Scholars promotion.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
