Lowndes High School Sign HomeLOWNDES COUNTY, GA – The Lowndes High School (LHS) mock trial team finished as the state runner-up at the Georgia State Tournament.

LHS faced off with Eagles Landing in the Elite Eight, Paideia in the Final 4, and Jonesboro for the State Championship. Jonesboro beat Lowndes High School in the tournament, making LHS the state runner-up.

This is the best finish LHS has ever had in the GA State Tournament. LHS had 43 perfect 10’s in the Elite 8 Tournament. Savannah Pierce had 14, followed by Elena Best with 7, Cason Green with 4, and  Kim Norton and Kaylon Day with 3.

Savannah Pierce, Elena Best, Kim Norton and Cason Green won best State Attorney’s. Kaylon Day, Amari Evans, Anna Butcher, and Kylie Mathis won best State Witnesses.

The entire Defense Team scored a perfect Ten in the Semi-Final Round.

This State Runner-Up finish qualifies LHS for the World Championship next school year. The State Rules have been changed, however, to prevent Georgia Teams from competing in this tournament. Michael White, LHS Mock Trial Team Coach, intends to lobby the Rules Committee in late April and early May to overturn this rule, or to at least receive an exemption for the team.
