VALDOSTA, GA – The Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce hosted its 102nd Annual Membership Meeting Thursday, Jan. 30 at the Rainwater Conference Center with 400 in attendance. The prestigious event celebrated the success of 2013, highlighted 2014 goals, and honored Chamber members and community leaders.

Jeff Hanson, Executive Vice President of Southwest Georgia Bank announced Angela Roark, Monarch Hair Solutions, the winner of the 2014 Southwest Georgia Bank Business Plan Competition. Roark received a $10,000 start-up capital prize from Southwest Georgia Bank, in addition to a marketing package provided by various sponsors in the business community.

The Chamber awarded its prestigious A.L. Girardin award to Scott James of Talk 92.1 and Steven Heddon of Fusion Creative Marketing. Each year the winner is selected by Chamber staff in recognition of Chamber members who have gone above and beyond in their contributions to the Chamber and local business community.

To conclude the program, Jay Prince, 2013 Chairman of the Board, ceremoniously welcomed Carl Holley as the 2014 Chairman of the Board. Holley closed on a high note with his ambitions and hopes for the business community in the new year.
