Warycross Firefighter Killed Fighting House Fire

american flag firefighters WAYCROSS, GA – Lt. Jeff Little, of the Waycross Fire Department, was killed while on duty just after midnight Sunday morning.

The fire happened at a home off Isabella St. in Waycross. While fighting the fire, Lt. Little got trapped inside the home. His fellow firefighters were able to pull him out of the house and administer CPR. He was then transported to the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross were he was later pronounced dead.

Commissioner Ralph Hodgens sends his condolences out to the family, and says the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire commission is offering a reward leading to an arrest and information about the fire. The fire has been ruled an arson. Due to that ruling, they are offering a reward of up to $10,000. Under the Georgia fire statue, when a firefighter is killed in the line of duty due to an arson fire the death is considered murder.
