MOULTRIE, GA – Authorities in Colquitt County made several arrests in a check forgery scheme in Moultrie and Doerun this past week. Checks were being made on a computer printer using the names Doerun Gin Co. and Sanderson Farms that looked like payroll checks.
The Moultrie Police Department has charged John Henry Covin, 230 Henry Road, Sylvester, and Mario Antonio Newcomb, 28, 3125 Sixth Ave., Tifton, with several counts of misdemeanor forgery and felony identity theft charges. They are believed to be part of a group that printed fake checks using local company names.
