RALEIGH, N.C. – A Quitman man is facing charges in an incident with a fair ride at the North Carolina State Fair on Thursday, October 24th. Officials say five people were injured when the “Vortex” ride went into gear as riders were getting off the ride. Officials also believe the ride was tampered with, and that critical safety devices were compromised. Timothy Dwayne Tutterrow, 46, of Quitman is facing three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
