Valdosta, GA- Sheriff Prine is alerting citizens of a recent scam that is using the Office of the Sheriff to prey upon citizens. Several citizens Coweta County, in the metro Atlanta area, have received telephone calls from an individual who claimed to be a deputy sheriff. The caller informs the call recipient that his wife or another female in the residence has missed jury duty and is facing being arrested if the
victim does not provide a credit card or debit card number to pay a fine. These calls are a scam.

Sheriff Prine is stressing to everyone that neither the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, nor any other office will contact you by telephone for missing jury duty or any other court obligation. If you receive such a call, do not provide the caller with any information and contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately at (229) 671-2950.
