Valdosta, GA- A series of explosions has closed the roads in and out of Gil Harbin Industrial Park after the blasts were reported at Perma-Fix Environmental Services. The business, which suffered a fire earlier this year, processes industrial, non-hazardous, and hazardous waste.

County fire chief Richard Guyton says the fire began around 2:20pm, and was finally under control by around 5pm.

City and county crews responded to the scene, and were assisted by the GSP, FBI, and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.

Three employees, Charlie Curry, Stan Williams, and Jamey Mitchell were reported injured. Mitchell was treated and released at SGMC- the others’ conditions are not known. Firefighters were dealing with 10 different chemicals fighting the fire.
