A raid on a cockfight earlier this month led to over four dozen arrests and citations in Coffee County. The bust on August 3rd marked the first in the county since the 1980s. Police raided a fight in a remote area off Virgil Spivey Road in extreme southwest Coffee County.
Drugs seized at the scene included amounts of marijuana, prescription pills, and methamphetamine, and several guns were also seized as well as thousands of dollars in cash. In all, 53 people were arrested or cited for their involvement- nearly all were charged with Commercial Gambling and/or Cruelty To Animals, though some will face Aggravated Cruelty To Animals charges.
