white thermometer outdoorValdosta, GA- Should the forecast hold, Wednesday will be by far the hottest day of the year in south Georgia…and could break a longtime record in the process. The all-time record high for June 12 is 102 degrees, set back in 1920. The Weather Channel forecasts a high of 99 degrees for Valdosta on Wednesday.

Although the temp itself will be hovering around the 100 degree mark, the sun and humidity are expected to push the heat index around 110 degrees by late in the afternoon.

Tuesday’s recorded high of 95 at Valdosta Regional Airport has been, to date, the hottest day of 2013.
