A dog in Valdosta is recovering after officials at the humane society say an electrical cord was embedded in its neck.

The dog wandered up to the Lowndes County Human Resources building Thursday morning with an electrical cord tied around its neck. The puppy was taken to the Lowndes County Animal Shelter, before getting treatment at a local vet’s office.

The doctor had to surgically remove the cord from the dog’s neck- she is now recovering at BARC; however, officials say she needs a foster or new home.
