gun shells crime sceneA 41-year old Lanier County man is said to be in stable condition after being shot twice by a Georgia State Patrol trooper. Relatives of Tim Blanton called police after reporting the man was drunk and firing guns.

When police arrived on scene, Blanton continued to fire rounds from his handgun, and threatened both a GSP trooper and a Lanier County Sheriff’s deputy. The parties reportedly exchanged gunfire, with the trooper hitting Blanton twice.

He is recovering at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Blanton could be charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, however, that charge is pending.
