basketball and courtIndianapolis, IN- The Atlanta Hawks were out to break a trend on Sunday afternoon- prior to their game in Indy, every home team in the NBA playoffs had won Game 1 of their respective series.  However, the Hawks’ lead over the Pacers barely lasted 5 minutes.

After jumping out to a 6-0 lead, Atlanta was outscored 34-18 in the rest of the 1st quarter and could never catch up. Despite four players in double figures, the Hawks had no answer for Indiana’s starting five, each of whom scored at least 13 points.

Paul George led the Pacers with a game high 23 points, including 17-18 from the free throw line.

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series is Wednesday at 7:30 in Indianapolis.
