According to CBS News, King of Fans ordered a recall of over 190,000  Hampton Bay 54-inch Mara Indoor/Outdoor ceiling fans. Consumers purchase these fans exclusively through Home Depot.

About 47 consumers have reported to King of Fans, the distributor, that the fan blades detached during use. In two instances, a blade hit the consumer after detaching mid-use. Also, four instances ended in property damage.

In conjunction with the CPSC, King of Fans issued a formal apology and an instructional video on inspecting the defect. They also provided contact information and instructions necessary to get a replacement.
