Thomas-University-Yellow-WallpaperTHOMASVILLE, GA – Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present a dramatic reading of “The Yellow Wallpaper” as the spring theatre production on Wednesday, April 9, at 2 p.m. in the Flowers Foods Executive Classroom of Smith-Bonvillian Hall on the Thomas University Main Campus.

Through her dramatic reading of this work by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Assistant Professor of Speech & Theatre Lisa Mitchell hopes to share the isolation and despair of a woman’s frightening descent into madness.

“This powerful story, first published in 1892, still pulls us into the fear we have of losing control,” Mitchell said. “Even in this century, we all desire to be rational in every situation but often worry that we may be overwhelmed, fighting to keep our sanity.”

The performance is free and open to the public. For additional information, please call (229) 227-6964 or e-mail actu@thomasu.edu.
