FFA hog show 2013 winnerVALDOSTA, GA – One hundred-sixteen students from Lowndes, Lanier, and Echols Counties exhibited hogs at the 37th annual Lowndes Area Market Hog Show on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.  The exhibitors were first through twelfth grade students and either members of FFA or 4H.  The event was held at the Lowndes County Fairgrounds/Civic Center.

Karli Barber of Lowndes FFA exhibited the Grand Champion.  Tori Millirons of Lowndes 4H exhibited the Reserve Champion hog. Weight class winners included:  Class 1, Elizabeth Fisher of Lowndes FFA; Class 2, Connor Sherouse of Lowndes 4H; Class 3, John Langdale of Lowndes 4H; Class 4, Chason Tillman of Lowndes FFA; Class 5, Kaitlyn Simpson of Echols FFA; Class 6, Cody Corbett of Echols FFA; Class 7,

Tori Millirons of Lowndes 4H; Class 8, Danielle Schweitzer of Lowndes FFA; Class 9, Clay Corbett of Echols FFA; and, Class 10, Karli Barber of Lowndes FFA.

Showmanship winners included:  Grade 1, Brooke Stone of Lanier 4H; Grade 2, Skyler Howell of Lowndes 4H; Grade 3, Lily Kinsey of Echols 4H; Grade 4, Perry Coggins of Echols 4H; Grade 5, Haley Stone of Lanier 4H; Grade 6, Trey Strickland of Lanier 4H; Grade 7, Danielle Schweitzer of Lowndes FFA; Grade 8, Anslee Barber of Lowndes FFA; Grade 9, Brooke Smith of Echols FFA; Grade 10, Macy Rowan of Lowndes FFA; Grade 11, Breanna Valler of Lowndes FFA; and, Grade 12, Cody Corbett of Echols FFA.

The main judge was Gary Childs from Bainbridge, Georgia.  Judge Childs praised the exhibitors in the event for the quality of the animals.  He was assisted with junior showmanship classes by Robbie Jones of the Baldwin County UGA Extension Office.

The Sale will follow on Wednesday evening at the same venue.  It will begin with the auction of the Grand Champion hog at 7 pm.  The public is asked to come support these students at the Sale. The Show is sponsored by Lowndes FFA Boosters, Lowndes County Farm Bureau, and Echols County Farm Bureau.  The Langdale Company gave each exhibitor a $25 add-on.
