Letter to troopsResidents of Valdosta and surrounding counties have the opportunity to send appreciation to our troops deployed over seas with a heartfelt Thanksgiving thank you letter. The Bert Show, a nationally syndicated radio program is hoping to pull off a Big Thank You by sending a letter to each service member deployed outside of the United States.

 In 2011, the Bert Show was able to send a Big Thank You of over 405,000 letters to our troops with the help of the community. This is a great opportunity to join forces with in our neighborhoods, organizations, businesses, churches, and schools to provide a much needed thank you to a brave military worker outside of the United States.

 Guidelines for the letters are as follows:

  •  Should be handwritten, heartfelt, original, and free of any political statement      
  • All letters must be on 8.5 inch by 11 inch paper or smaller (standard sized sheet of printer paper)     
  • Do not use glue, tape, staples, cardboard, glitter, or otherwise attach anything to the paper.
  • No construction paper     
  • Decorate using crayon, markers, pens or pencils     
  • Use both sides if you like, but use only one page per letter only.     
  • Do not send greeting cards or photographs.      
  • Feel free to include your mailing and e-mail address.
  • Individual letters should not be sealed in envelopes.
  • For individual letters, place your letter inside the envelope, tuck the envelope flap inside, and apply 1st class postage.
  • For batches of letters from groups, place all letters inside in large brown envelope, and seal. Be sure to apply sufficient postage.
  • Do not send anything except letters. Donations of any kind cannot be accepted and should not be included with or attached to letters.
