Red Cross, Mayo Clinic, and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital are now collaborating to help find a solution to combating the Coronavirus within the blood of COVID-19 patients.
They believe it may be possible to create a vaccine based on the blood plasma of patients who have successfully fought off the Coronavirus. This idea of applying the antibodies of one person’s blood to another has been used in past virus vaccinations as well. For patients at Phoebe who overcome the virus, this means doctors may discuss donating their blood to further this study.
