Dear Editor,
IN RESPONSE TO YOUR STORY ON RING HACK BERRIN COUNTY
People wake in the morning, tell Alexa to turn on the TV, strap a Fitbit to themselves, and open Facebook to find out what their friends had for dinner last night.
Then they complain to all about a lack of privacy.
I’ve been installing Security Equipment for 30 years in SE USA and it amazes me the gullibility of some folks. Recently a young friend of our family spent Thanksgiving with us. As I laid on the couch watching TV after dinner she walked up, shoved her phone in my face, and said, “Say hello to my Grandpa.”
I politely said hello and then asked her to lay her phone on the kitchen countertop while finishing her conversation. After the call, her and I discussed privacy. I invited her into my home, NOT her Grandpa. She also got an explanation as to what happens when someone hacks her phone, turns that app on, and watches her without her knowledge.
