VALDOSTA, Ga. – On Friday September 13, 2019, Darrian Latavius Williams led authorities on a high-speed chase on I-75 which began in the northbound lane.

Williams, 44, of Atlanta, was reportedly tailed by Lowndes County Sheriff’s deputies around 10:45 a.m. for speeding.

Williams, traveling at speeds reaching 144 mph, got off the interstate at Exit 32 and looped back onto the interstate’s southbound lanes. He continued fleeing at accelerated speeds before exiting again at Exit 16.

Once he made that exit he wound up crashing into a pickup truck and a law enforcement vehicle.

According to Sheriff Ashley Paulk, Williams’s wild ride ended when he crashed his vehicle in a ditch in front of Austin’s Cattle Company on Hill Avenue, continuing on foot down Highway 84 before being apprehended.

Timothy Raines, who had been driving the truck Williams hit, was the only one injured.

Williams was taken into custody where he was remanded to the Lowndes County Jail, charged with fleeing, reckless driving, and driving without a license.

According to Sheriff Paulk, he will remain in Lowndes County but won’t be here long since he has outstanding warrants in Fulton County and priors in Florida.

Williams has a history of such incidents. In 2015 he fled when police showed up at his house with an arrest warrant, according to the Vero County News. Williams took off running and wound up in jail facing multiple charges which included armed robbery with a deadly weapon.

Williams also attempted fleeing from Vero County authorities in 2015

This incident at Vero Beach led to the serving officer injuring his ankle as Williams, 39 at the time, attempted to flee.

Police returned to the home later when they were notified he had returned and was armed with a gun, broke into his girlfriend’s car, stole her cellphone and made threats on her life.

Williams pushed an air conditioning unit through the wall and managed to get back into the home, according to a Vero County News report, but Williams was later found hiding at another home with the phone.
