VALDOSTA – A Valdosta Police Department undercover operation led to the arrest of two men Friday and the recover of $100,000 worth of stolen property packed into a semi-truck.
On December 9, 2016, information concerning stolen property was received by an on duty shift supervisor with the Valdosta Police Department from an investigator from out of state. The investigator reported that a semi-truck full of stolen items was possibly headed to the City of Valdosta.
The Valdosta PD shift supervisor coordinated the information with Valdosta PD detectives who were able to confirm the existence of the stolen items through the National Crime Information Center or NCIC.
Valdosta Police Detectives then set up an undercover operation to buy the stolen property from the offenders in the 2100 block of West Hill Avenue.
After the suspects arrived on scene, one was arrested immediately while the second fled on foot. With the assistance of Uniformed Patrol Officers, the second suspect was located and arrested within only a few minutes.
Both offenders were caught in possession of a plethora of contraband including, two handguns, Cocaine, and seven thousand dollars in cash. In addition, the truck full of stolen property which was valued at over one hundred thousand dollars was returned to the owner.
Both subjects were taken to the Lowndes County Jail and will now face multiple charges:
Christopher Davis, 38, of Sharpsburg, GA
- Theft by Bringing Stolen Property into the State (FELONY)
- Theft by Receiving (FELONY)
- Possession of Cocaine (FELONY)
- Possession of Firearm During the Commission of a Crime (FELONY)

Dexter Hubbard, 34, of Murphy, NC

“This case is a great example of how different Law Enforcement agencies work with each other on a daily basis solve crimes, even when agencies are several hundred miles away from each other. The Valdosta Police Department is very pleased with the solid efforts of both detectives and uniformed patrol units for their efforts in taking both thieves into custody,” said VPD Lt. Adam Bembry.
