WASHINGTON — Senator Johnny Isakson made an appearance on Fox News over the weekend to discuss Hillary Clinton’s email server scandal, and said that he believes proof of criminal wrongdoing could spell the end of her presidential candidacy.
“If you look at political history, the most egregious thing is not the crime but the cover up,” Isakson said . “If in fact the server was wiped, we’re going to find out if they wiped classified information. We’re going to find out if the statements she said were false and incorrect. And if in fact they did cover up, it was a crime, and it will be the end of her presidential candidacy.”
Isakson went on to say that he believes revelations that Clinton wiped her email server of classified information would “be just as bad as the 18 minutes of missing tape in Watergate”.
While some political pundits aren’t convinced that “Servergate” is enough to end Clinton’s presidential bid, Isakson doubled down on his belief that findings of a cover up would be enough crumble her aspirations. When asked if criminal prosecution was in the cards for Clinton, Isakson stated that, “the political prosecution would be the end of her candidacy.”
