VALDOSTA — The courts have required the plaintiffs in the Kendrick Johnson lawsuit to provide a more definitive statement related to their allegations.
The suit, which is very broad in scope, was ordered by the court to be amended, especially regarding statements made that Johnson was killed inside Lowndes High School.
The changes to the $100 million suit filed by the Johnson family now reads that the plaintiffs claim Johnson was killed in the school and that afterwards, Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine, Lowndes County Schools Superintendent Wes Taylor, and Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Rick Bell, conspired to cover up the murder by hiding Johnson’s body in a rolled-up gym mat at the school.
In a report from WCTV, Lowndes County Attorney Jim Elliott is quoted as stating in a written report that “(T)he amended complaint sets forth myriad false, outrageous, scurrilous and scandalous allegations of criminal conduct, based solely ‘upon information and belief’ against Sheriff Prine, his deputies, and many others.”
School System attorney Warren Turner also provided a written statement, saying “(S)even months after filing the suit and 31 months after Johnson’s accidental death, no witness has ever been identified, nor any evidence offered to support such new claims. It is irresponsible, and just plain wrong.”
