DAYTONA BEACH — Members of a Daytona Beach church got a scare when a man threatened their preacher during Sunday services.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that the 39-year-old man walked up to the pulpit at the Madison Heights Church of God and screamed that he is God.  He then threatened the preacher.

Church members grabbed the man and restrained him until police arrived. Police said the man is mentally ill. The preacher refused to press charges but police took the man to the hospital, where he was being kept in protective custody.
