LAUREL HILL — Sheriff’s deputies reported a 14-year old Florida boy punched his mother during an argument related to his abuse of animals.

The incident occurred in Laurel Hill, Florida, north of Crestview just south of the Alabama state line.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office told the Associated Press that the teen will face multiple charges of battery and animal abuse.  Reports indicate that the boy’s mother had found evidence of animal cruelty and when she confronted the boy, he punched her in the face.  As she fell, the boy then kicked her in the chin.

Deputies found a dog and chicken dead and other animals wounded.

In addition, authorities state the boy is also responsible for two recent burglaries in the area.  Reports state the boy is accused of taking two parakeets from a cage in a local house, then killing them and tossing them into a lake.

The boy faces four counts of felony animal cruelty and battery among other charges, according to reports.
