SYLVESTER — Sylvester Police ran the plates of a truck parked in Sylvester over the weekend and discovered the driver was wanted in Tifton. The suspect, however, drove off with tragic consequences.
Reports state 26-year old Jose Manuel Huerta was wanted in Tift County and when approached by police, Juerta drove off only to be pulled over later at a Flash Foods convenience store in Sylvester. Huerta then pulled a gun and shot himself in front of the officers.
Worth County Corner Jim Johnson reported to WALB that he in fact killed himself as a result of the gunshot. He had no identification on him at the time. Officials are running a toxicology report on Huerta and a GBI investigation is ongoing.
