VALDOSTA – Lowndes High School senior Mason Slaughter has been selected as a Georgia delegate to the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP).

VALDOSTA, GA – Lowndes County Schools is proud to announce that Lowndes High School senior Mason Slaughter has been selected as a Georgia delegate to the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP), one of the most prestigious leadership honors awarded to high school students nationwide.
Each year, only two students from each state are chosen through a highly competitive selection process that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership ability, and a demonstrated commitment to civic engagement and public service. Mason’s selection places him among an elite group of student leaders from across the country.
As a USSYP delegate, Mason will soon travel to Washington, D.C., where he will participate in an intensive, week-long program focused on the workings of the federal government. The experience includes meetings with national leaders, interactions with U.S. Senators, and in-depth discussions on public policy, leadership, and democratic principles.
The United States Senate Youth Program has a long-standing tradition of cultivating future leaders and inspiring students to pursue lives of public service. Mason’s achievement reflects both his dedication and the strong educational foundation provided by Lowndes County Schools.
